I feel like facebook is the only way to keep up with old friends lately.  I know I haven't done well in keeping in touch with a lot of people.  But I figured it was time for a xanga blog to vent a bit.

My life is coming together fairly well.  I can't complain.  I have a great job that I love.  I own a beautiful home.  I have a loving boyfriend.  I do have a core group of friends that I can rely on.

But what about the numerous people that have been such a large part of my life prior to this point?  Many of them I haven't talked to in years.  A lot of them I would imagine seeing them may be an awkward encounter.  Maybe its all in my head.  But it made me a little nostalgic and sad too find out who is engaged, married, pregnant, etc.  I know I don't do my part to keep in touch, except as the casual observer on networking websites, but I guess life is so different for me now then.  I am afraid that every time I take another step forward, I leave another person behind.  Its an awful feeling to feel like there have been few constants throughout many of my life moves.

Don't get me wrong, I am happy with the life I created.  I just wish there were more seams that wove the many pieces of my life together.

  • So I was at World Market the other day and I saw that they started carrying Ramune japanese soda.  3 flavors!  I guess I got excited because it reminded me of all the fun and friends I had that could appreciate those things with me.  Everyone down here just looks at me funny that I want to buy such things.  O well.  I guess thats what I get for living in the south.

  • Ok, so xanga emailed me to blog again. I guess I have had some wonderful times on this thing.  And it does still keep me in touch with how some of my long lost friends have been doing.  I guess I should do the same. ...

So what have I been doing the past year??  I officially became a resident of North Carolina.  I work for an awesome architecture firm in Charlotte.  I have been active in the community gaining support for public art along much needed areas of the city.  I finally defended my second thesis.  Officially ending my academic career... I am just waiting for that stupid diploma to get mailed to me.  For whatever reason I haven't been able to let myself celebrate until I can hold that piece of paper in my hands.

Other than that, I am just living and enjoying life.  I miss NY at times, then I remember I wouldn't be able to afford to live downtown and 4 blocks away from work up there. Ha!

  • I'm bringing Xanga back - drop a comment if you're with me!
